Chicken Steam cooked with Coconut Milk and Basil ( Pepes Ayam tanpa daun pisang )


This food should be wrap with banana leaf. But I don't have banana leaf in home, so i place this food into container while i steamed.

Here, I will share the recipe with you and maybe give you some ideas.

What you need :

3 pieces chicken thigh 
1 stalk green onion, sliced 1/2-inches pieces 
1 cup basil leaves or Thai basil leaves, sliced into stripe
oil

--Seasoning Ingredients (finely chopped)  :
6 cloves red pearl onion/ shallots 
3 cloves garlic 
1/4 teaspoon ground turmeric 
1/4 teaspoon ground ginger
1/4 teaspoon ground galangal
4 pieces candlenuts 
salt and sugar for taste

Note : 1 US cup = 236.588237 ml

Make it :

English for version
1. Combine and finely chopped or you can use chopper seasoning ingredients. Set aside.
2. In hot skillet, with little bit of oil, saute mix seasoning under low heat until aromatic or approx 5 minutes.
3. Add chicken, saute constantly, until cook or no longer pink for approx 15 min.
4. In a container, place chicken then add basil and green onion.
5. Steam for another 10 minutes.
6. Serve with hot steam rice :-)

Indonesia version
- Campur bahan bumbu dan haluskan bahan bumbu. Sisihkan.
- Didalam wajan panas, tumis bumbu halus dengan sedikit minyak hingga harum.
- Masukkan ayam, aduk rata hingga ayam berubah warna.
- Didalam wadah, masukkan ayam kemudian taburi kemangi dan bawang daun.
- Kukus selama 10 menit.
- Sajikan hangat bersama nasi putih :-)
