Baked Beef marinated with jalapeno and tomato

The idea comes after i cooked many times specially after i cooked meat.
You will love this, taste from tomato and little "kick" taste from jalapeno.

Serving suggestion are  with steamed rice and easy sauteed baby spinach with soy sauce.

What you need :

- 0.8 lbs beef tri-tip roast or top sirloin roast, cut into 4x1/2-inches pieces
- 1 big tomato or 2 medium size tomatoes, diced
- 4 cloves shallots, thinly sliced
- 1 Jalapeno, seeded, diced
- 2 tablespoon soy sauce
- 50 ml fresh milk
- pepper
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/3 teaspoon sugar
- 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/3 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- oil for saute

Make it :

1. Saute shallot into hot oil until aromatic, then add dice tomato, jalapeno for 1 minute.
2. Add nutmeg, cinnamon, salt, pepper, sugar and milk, combine.
3. Add sliced beef, saute gently until seasoning evaporated.
4. Preheat oven into 350 degrees F and lightly grease or spray baking dish with cooking spray.
5. Place cooked sliced beef into prepared baking dish. Bake for about 20 minutes.
6. Place into prepared dish, serve hot with side dish. Enjoy.

Preparation : 5 minutes
Cooking : 40 minutes

Easy Sauteed Baby Spinach with soy sauce

I like to visit people recipe, but mostly I took the idea then I made with my own style and taste.

This time, I made many changes for this recipe, I substitute water with vegetable broth, then add little bit ABC's sweet soy sauce and sliced green onion.

I'm not sure, this recipe had same taste with the original recipe or not, but I got delicious taste with my own style.

This dish is very easy and quick from preparation until cook proses. You will love this one.

What you need :

- a bunch baby spinach, cleaned then cut into 2 pieces
- 3 cloves garlic, thinly sliced
- a stalk green onion, thinly slice
- 50 ml vegetable broth or chicken or beef broth
- 2  tablespoon soy sauces
- 1 spoonful oyster sauce
- 1 teaspoon ABC's sweet soy sauce
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- ground pepper
- oil for saute

Make it :

1. Bring oil into hot, then saute garlic until aromatic.
2. Add green onion, saute for 1 minute then add broth , soy sauce + sweet soy sauce, salt, pepper. Let it simmer about 2 minutes. Don't forget to taste.
3. Add sliced baby spinach, saute gently until soak into the sauce. Then remove from the heat.
4. Place on prepared dish, serve hot with other side dishes.

Preparation : 5 minutes
Cooking : 10 minutes

Deep-fried mixed yellow sweet corn, green onion and celery ( Bakwan Jagung )

This dish is one of traditional Indonesia side dishes, but maybe some of Javanese people said if this is you can eat as a snack, too. That wasn't wrong.

My grandmother was cook this for us as a side dish but we eat it too as a snack. :-)

What you need :

- 10 oz yellow sweet corn, smashed little bit with spoon
- 1 stalk celery, thinly slice
- 1 stalk green onion, thinly slice
- 1 big cloves shallots, minced
- 1/2 teaspoon sugar
- 1/3 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon Java Zedoary powder or Kencur powder - available at Asian store
- 1/2 tablespoon chili paste, skip if you don't like spicy taste
- 2 tablespoon all purpose flour
- 5 tablespoon of water, for dissolve
- oil for frying

Make it :

1. Combine : mix all ingredients into a bowl, don't forget to taste.
2. Bring oil into hot, take a spoon the mixed ingredients then place into hot oil.
3. Let it cook until both side are golden brown.
3. Serve hot. Enjoy. :-)

Preparation : 5 minutes
Cooking : 10 minutes

Servings : 8-10 pieces

Baked Salmon with Mushroom sauce

We got fresh frozen Salmon from my husband's father, and today I want cook with a fish. I was browse to my recipe collection, and I found recipe from The Prepared Pantry. 

I didn't follow the original recipe, I've tried to substitute chicken with Salmon also I made my own seasoning. I made my own taste and trust me, it's turn out so good. 

Beside, the salmon pours with mushroom sauce, without it the salmon with my marinated recipe are delicious. So, you can choose in here, whether with the sauce or not.

Suggestion serving for this dish is steamed vegetables and potatoes - you can steamed or fried it.

What you need :

- 15 oz Salmon, if frozen, thawed

Marinated Seasoning Ingredients :
- lime juice
- salt
- freshly ground pepper
- olive oil

Mushroom sauce ingredients :
- 1 cup thinly sliced Button Mushrooms
- 2 cloves garlic, thinly slice
- 1/3 cup dice onion
- salt
- pepper
- 2 teaspoon corn starch or all purpose water and dissolve with 2 tablespoon of water in a bowl
- 100 ml milk
- 50 ml chicken/beef broth
- 1 tablespoon butter
- 1 tablespoon oil for saute

Make it :

1. Preheat oven for 400 degrees F.
2. Marinated Salmon with mixed olive oil, salt, pepper and lime juice. Let it rest for 15 minutes at room temperature.
3. In baking dish, spray with oil, then place the marinated salmon, bake for 15-20 minutes.
4. Sauce : In a hot wok, heat oil and butter then add garlic and onion, saute for 2 minutes.
5. Add sliced mushroom, saute for 3 minutes then add milk and broth.
6. Adjust taste with salt and pepper. Cook for 5 minutes then add mixed cornstarch+water for thickening the sauce. Let it simmer for 2 minutes.
7. Place baked salmon into prepared dish then pour with mushroom sauce. Serve hot. Enjoy.

Preparation : 5 minutes
Cooking : 20 minutes

Baked Chicken with Mushroom sauce

What you need : 

- 2 chicken thigh
- 2 teaspoon lime juice
- salt
- freshly ground pepper

Mushroom sauce ingredients :
- 1 cup thinly sliced Button Mushrooms
- 2 cloves garlic, thinly slice
- 1/3 cup dice onion
- salt
- pepper
- 2 teaspoon corn starch or all purpose water and dissolve with 2 tablespoon of water in a bowl
- 100 ml milk
- 50 ml chicken/beef broth
- 1 tablespoon butter
- 1 tablespoon oil for saute

Make it :

1. Marinated chicken with mix seasoning : lime juice, salt and pepper. Let it rest for 10 minutes at room temperature.
2. Preheat oven for 450 degrees F.
3. Place the chicken into prepared baking dish, and bake 15 minutes under 450 degrees F then turn the heat into 350 degrees F and cook for 15-20 minutes.
4. Sauce : In a hot wok, heat oil and butter then add garlic and onion, saute for 2 minutes.
5. Add sliced mushroom, saute for 3 minutes then add milk and broth.
6. Adjust taste with salt and pepper. Cook for 5 minutes then add mixed cornstarch+water for thickening the sauce. Let it simmer for 2 minutes.
7. Place baked chicken into prepared dish then pour with mushroom sauce. Serve hot. Enjoy.

Preparation : 5 minutes
Cooking : 45 minutes

Spicy Tofu and Potatoes cooked with coconut milk - Sambal Goreng Pedas Kentang Tahu

This dish is one of the traditional  Indonesian food. My grandmother cooked this for me while i was a kid.  This dish serves for lunch with steamed white rice.

What you need :

- 50 Oz Medium Firm Tofu, cube sliced then fried until little bit brown
- 1 cup dice Potatoes
- 1 piece chicken or beef, dice
- 2 teaspoon sambal oeleg or other chili sauce
- 3 cloves shallots, thinly slice
- 2 cloves garlic, thinly slice
- 1 pieces medium Tomatoes, dice
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon sugar
- 200 ml coconut milk + 100 ml water
- a stalk green onion, thinly slice
- oil for saute

Make it :


1. In a hot wok, heat oil then add and saute garlic and shallots for 3 minutes.
2. Add chili sauce and diced chicken/beef, saute until no longer pink or for 4 minutes.
3. Add potatoes, fried tofu, green onion, salt, sugar, water and coconut milk. Reduce the heat and let simmer for 10 minutes and until potatoes is tender.
4. Adjust taste if think you need more salt or sugar.
5. Place into prepared bowl and serve hot with steamed rice. Enjoy.

Stir-fry Tofu with Beef, Vegetables and Bell Pepper

While i was check refrigerator, i found a little bit of tofu. I want to cook it before it's going to bad. So i decide to cook with this style and the result is turn out so good. Definitely, I will repeat to cook this again.

What you need :

- 50 oz Medium Firm Tofu, cut 3x1/2-inches pieces then fried until both side little bit brown
- 1 piece red bell pepper, seeded and slice thinly
- Broccoli and cauliflower, take the crown only
- 3 cloves minced garlic
- 1/2 cup diced sweet onion
- 1/3 teaspoon ground ginger
- 50 gram beef, cut 1/2x3-inches pieces
- 1 teaspoon fish oil
- 2 tablespoon oyster sauce
- 1/2 tablespoon oil + 1/2 tablespoon sesame oil
- salt and sugar for taste
- ground white and black pepper
- 100 ml water
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch + 2 tablespoon water, dissolve in a little bowl for thickening
- fried shallots, as garnish


Make it :

1. In a hot skillet, bring oil+ sesame oil into hot, then add garlic, saute gently for 2 minutes. Add ginger, saute for 1 minutes, then add sliced beef, saute and cook until no change the color for approx 3 minutes.
2. Add tofu, water, sweet onion, fish oil and oyster sauce, saute constantly for approx 4 minutes.
3. Add vegetables and bell pepper, saute continuously for 2 minutes. Cook under low to simmer heat.
4. Add salt, sugar, and ground pepper for taste. Add mixed water+corn starch, saute gently for about 1 minutes.
5. Remove into prepared dish and serve with steamed hot rice and garnish with fried shallots. Enjoy.

- You can substitute beef with chicken or even with vegetables stock, and then you can get vegetarian version.

Indonesian Steamed Rice cooked with coconut milk ( Nasi Uduk Simple )

This is one of Indonesian traditional food. This food is mostly find in the morning as a breakfast.
This time i serving with : Oven Fried Chicken, Fried Tofu cooked with Brown Sugar, sliced omelets and steamed vegetables.

What you need :

- 1 cup White Rice, washed
- 250 ml coconut milk
- 1/3 teaspoon salt
- 1 lemongrass, white part, brushes
- 2 pieces kaffir lemon lime
- 1 piece bay leaves

Make it :

1. Steam rice until half-cooked.
2. Cook the coconut milk along with salt, bay leaves, lime leaves, and lemongrass in a medium-sized pot. Bring it to boil, then simmer immediately.
3. Stir in the half-cooked rice into the mixture. Stir with wooden spoon until the coconut milk is absorbed by the rice.
4. Continue to steam until the rice is fully cooked. Remove the lemongrass, bay leaves, and lime leaves before serving.

Preparation : 10 minutes
Cooking : 15 minutes

"Santa Maria Style BBQ" Tri-Tip Steak

Tri tip is a great cut of meat and certainly one of the classics for outdoor cooking.
We served this on Sunday for dinner with my husband parents.

Tri tip used to be a very local to Northern California, but is becoming popular with chefs across the country.
Santa Maria-style barbecue is the authentic taste experience of Santa Maria.

What you need :

- 2-3 lbs beef tri-tip roast or top sirloin roast
- Santa Maria Suzie Q seasoning mix
- Lizano sauce - as your wish, you can skip or substitute with other sauce.

Note :
- Santa Maria Suzie Q seasoning is available at Costco, especially at Central Coast, CA.
- Lizano is vegetable seasoning mix.


Make it :

1. In a bowl, add all ingredients.Rubbing it in as you would a dry rub. Let rest for 1 hour or more at room temperature.
2. Prepare a grill with medium heat. Place the steak in the middle of hot.
3. Flip steaks with tongs. Grill steaks 6-8 minutes per side for medium rare.
4. When steak is done to your liking, transfer to plate.
5. Let rest for about 10 minutes to allow the meat juices to redistribute and settle before cutting into 1/2-inch slices.
6. Serve the meat with side dishes on plate. Enjoy.


Serving Suggestion :
- Cooked beans, I used F.McLintocks Beans and Ranch Style - Pinto Bean with Jalapeno Peppers.
- Steamed potato and server with sour cream.
- Steamed vegetables

Preparation : 10 minutes
Cooking : 20 minutes

Servings : 6-8 servings

Tortilla Chips Dip made from Re-fried Bean, Salsa and Pepper Jack Cheese

I served this snack while we watching Superbowl on Sunday.

What you need :

- 1 can Re-fried bean or about 15 oz
- 1.5 cup salsa - i used hot salsa
- 1 cup diced pepper jack cheese - or any your favorite cheese

Make it :

1. Heat and combine salsa and re-fried bean for 6 minutes under low heat.
2. Add cheese, stirring gently until all ingredients are combine and cheese melted.
3. Place into prepared bowl, serve with Tortilla Chips. Enjoy.

Preparation : 1 minutes
Cooking : 15 minutes

Servings : 8-10 servings


Thai Green Curry from Instant Spices

I bought Green Curry Paste - Blue Elephant Royal Thai Cuisine from World Market in Madonna Plaza San Luis Obispo about 2 months ago.
This time I try to cook it, and even this is instant spices, i put some spices to make it more tasty.

What you need :

- 1.2 oz green curry paste
- 200 ml coconut oil
- 8 oz chicken
- 1 tablespoon fish sauce
- 1 cup green peas
- 1 piece big tomato, slice quartered
- 1 stalk green onion, thinly slice
- 2 cloves shallots, minced
- 1 tablespoon fried onion - available at Asian store
- 1 piece green chili or jalapeno, seeded and diced
- oil for saute
- fresh basil for garnish
- salt and sugar for adjust the taste

Make it :

1. Heat oil in a sauce pan, add and saute shallots for 2 minutes then add 1 bag green curry paste.
2. Stir-fry for 3 minutes until an aroma develops.
3. Add sliced chicken, saute gently then add coconut milk, peas, green chili, fish sauce and green onion.
4. Cook and simmer for 20 minutes or until chickens are fully cooked.
5. Add sugar and salt for adjust the taste.
6. Place in prepared dish and garnish with tomato and fresh basil. Serve with steamed rice. Enjoy.

Preparation : 5 minutes
Cooking : 30 minutes
